Some other prospective customers have migrated to the hazardous CFL, with a luminous efficacy of 50–70 lm/W, runtime of 8,000 hours, and which contain mercury, a neurotoxin that is listed as one of the top 10 most dangerous chemicals for public health according to the World Health Organization. Mercury exposure can lead to long-term neurological deficiencies, with severe cases suffering brain damage, paralysis, incoherent speech & delirium. Oretronics Technology Solid-State Lighting is very energy efficient at a luminous efficacy of 124 lm/W, runtime from 15,000 hours; saves end-users 90% cost of lighting. It does not contain mercury. Oretronics Technology Solid-State Lighting is heavily regulated and are rated for very wide voltage range (100-240V 50/60 Hz) and actually operate from about 30V to 270V 50/60 Hz thus taking care of the low voltage and erratic electricity supply including surges prevalent throughout Africa.
